SPC ~ Absurd Hair

This was the epitome
of the 1980 hairstyles
I adorned during
that infamous decade.
I think my hair
weighed more than my
entire body?!
How in the world did
my neck hold up
my head? I remember
thinking that I
felt so cool and hip.
Most of my girlfriends
were still wearing
the long straight
hair of our high school
70's years, but for me...
the bigger the better
and I had the biggest hair
I knew of...
...except for my lil sis...

YHow adorable is she?Y
I am so glad
this decade of
absurd hair has
come and gone.
And that hair
styles have never
been that big since.
But, the main reason
is because my "hair"
will never require
that much time
and attention
ever again :)

Somewhere buried on my blog I have a photo of my Big Hair from the '80's too. I would have greatly admired yours if we had met during that decade!!!! :-)

Great photo, Darlene!

WE just had our 20th highschool reunion and they posted all the big hair pics up on the wall in full blown scandalous visibility for all of us to see!! Yeah, the 80's were some pretty heavy hair years. great spc post!

Oh Darlene, I must have got caught in the 80's Time Machine, cause "dang" I still wear "Poof".

Love the picutures of you girls, and you both look darling with the curls and the new straight...!!

You put the biggest smile on my face with these pictures. I really appreciated your sister's comment regarding her likeness to Amy Grant and El Shaddai. She is hilarious. Wait until my scanner is fixed... I will have to post my senior prom picture. What was I thinking?
Those 70's hairstyles (long and straight) look pretty good right now compared to the 80's!

A few years ago, I had to make a choice. Beads or professional hair dye? It is obvious that beads won. I cut my hair really short and so it is wash and go. So much easier and like you, Who has the time or cares. No me!

you pulled off big hair quite nicely. i, on the other hand, mostly teased my bangs straight up and immobilized them with aqua net. what a lovely era.

Is it bad that I look at that hairstyle and sort of wonder what I'd look like with it?

I remember each of the fashion decades of my life. The younger I was, the more certain I was that we had finally hit the end-all of fashion and it would never be cooler than this! I have laughed at almost every fad that came along and have given in to the majority of them. My few proud fashion rebellions are my rejection of those fur patch coats of the late 70's, my refusal to touch anything remotely "acid washed", and my disgust of the "aged" denim that looked like urine stained jeans pulled from a homeless person.

During the 80's, I had long hair down to my knees. So I didn't necessarily have BIG hair. But I had TONS of it.

BTW - you're gorgeous no matter how you wear your hair!
