long before we made the pies

by Darlene Simmonds

long before we made the pies
we churned
and dug
we planted
and watered
we pruned
and waited

long before we made the pies
vines sprouted
grew quickly
leaves formed
and filled spaces
spines lengthened
hands wounded

long before we made the pies
buds appeared
quickly burst
flowers opened
beautifully bloomed
slowly dried up
and died away

long before we made the pies
there was hard work
a lot of time
continuous care
environmental cooperation
beauty and death
then succulent fruit

long before you and I are through
we get churned and dug
watered and pruned
grow and burst open
bloom and dry up
we work and protect
care and cooperate
pass a lot of time
and if we are faithful
and believe in our dreams
we eventually bear fruit

and are made into award winning pies.

...and what pie are you? :)

I pray that I will bear much fruit and when I get to heaven God will be able to say "Well done my good and faithful daugher."

If I could be a pie I would be a bluberry one:)
