creative bliss ....
...amongst the mess
Creative processes work differently for everyone. My brain rolls around a few shapes, colors and textures. All these doodles end up scattered before me looking like a mess. I cut things, bending them, this way and that. I trace and draw, refining a shape and there is endless measuring. My husband comes home and glances over my shoulder and says,
"Are you making little snowmen?"
And I stare at my pile of treasures and wonder .....hawh...?
Treasures...that is just what my creations feel like to me. They are small pieces of myself that derive from my present state of mind and I feel very emotional about the entire process. I surround myself with these items, all organized in containers on wheels, so they can follow me around the house.
Did you know that when you ask someone a question, they usually look up and to the right. Try it. This is because we store our information in the upper parts of our brain and it is a natural reaction to the mental search. I find that I day dream a lot and catch myself looking up for new ideas. Even now, my brain is putting together something beautiful that resembles a shimmering ocean treasure, a pendent that will hang from silk and there are sooooo many variations of this theme.
I am excited, energized and my body is slowly showing signs of healing. My brilliant hubby and I listened to what all the doctors had to say and then took matters into our own hands. Between that and being a MAjor squeaky wheel, along with you (my little bloggie squeakers)...I think some healing balm was mercifully sent down!
So, whether we are neat or messy, organized with eyes searching, sloppy and squeezed tight, or just dreaming up our ideas, creative projects are individual pieces of ourselves.
Uniquely you in every way.
Share your cReAtiVe process???

I'm so glad to hear you're not only feeling better, but well enough to let the creativity flow.
I'm so glad you're able to schlep your creativity-on-wheels around again; can't wait to see the results! If I'm not mistaken, your photo would indicate that a cell phone and remote control are part of your creative process? ;-)
I have no creative process, but while trying to think about it, I did look up and to the right. I guess that means I'm normal, right? Actually, my creative process involves amassing lots of whatever I'm using (words, photos, supplies) and using a very small percentage in the final product; I guess I am a woman who likes a lot of choices!
Sending more healing love your way...xoxo Star
I've actually heard that which side you look to, connects to the different sides of your brain or something. I look up and to the left for some reason.
so glad you are starting to turn the corner, d. hope the healing continues, and the creative therapy keeps you floating high! i like to think of you smiling, looking up to the right in creative thoughts all floaty like :) xo, mindy
So glad to hear that you are feeling better, and love the story of your creative process. I am just now coming back into my creative space, so right now, it is a lot of note taking and looking around at everything around me...so much inspiration.

My creative process is taking lots of pics so if I want to draw or manipulate photos I have them in my files. But really, looking at others' creativity usually gets mine flowing...

Hi Darlene and I would love to share more of my creative process, but I find the more I try to share, the less I know. For me, I believe that it is a melding process, that happens when something has jogged my emotions or hit me like a lance on the emotional level. Without being aware I'm doing it, something 'speaks' to me in the visual or audio parts of my learning, or it may be a dream, but then it all comes out in sort of blinding flash and is more or less what it will be. I can't say that the 'what' is a vision, because sometimes it is a thought and I mush it around some before it becomes workable, or sometimes it is words and they just can't wait until I get to paper and they pour out, while sometimes I do see a piece all finished and just have technical stuff to work out.
But, I think you have a kinetic intelligence to your creativity. I'm not sure if I have that or not, but sometimes I think it comes as a special and rare (for me) insight, but you are much more body aware, than I am. I love hearing you describe that in your blog.
I'm so happy to read that you are on the road to healing again. I look forward to arranging another meet-up with Angela and Wanda and this time get you there too.
I too am glad to hear that you are getting some relief. That makes my heart feel joyful. I am a total up to the right looker when I get an idea. I also scrunch my mouth up.
I have a few little boxes that I enjoy because they are filled with easy creativity satisfiers; beads & wire, home made card supplies, felt & embroidery thread. They are some of the only really organized things in my house.
