Self Portrait ~*~ Red

~*~ A Cancelled Trip ~*~

My husband came home last night and took one look at me and said, "You are in no shape to be driving." I quietly shook my head yes. I became angry inside and red glazed over my eyes. I made a mental note to breathe. We changed our reservations for one week ahead. After such a busy weekend working, my body could not handle a long 3 day trip so soon. Lupus is unpredictable.

Switching gears...I adore the color red, all shades of it. This color makes me happy and feel great inside. I have a red wall in my house and always will. I am so blessed to be loved by people who can read me with just one look. To know what is best for me because I always want to be able to make plans and go go go. It gives me some peace to bare the physical pain I'm in, and the disappointment of the change of plans...again.

When the red orb
lights up
it's time to stop,
waiting for green
increases patience
and brings
the daughter
home
to the Momma!
(:D)

Dear Sweet Darlene ... how frustrating to have to postpone. I'm sorry your body is not cooperating with your plans right now love. Lupus is such an unfair disease on so many levels, including the unpredictability. On the plus side, you look gorgeous as ever wrapped in red. Much peace, love and many hugs to you, Deborah **had to remove my prior post - darn typos!**

Pain and sadness will only bring more appreciation into the good days, and the moments, Just think of all the people rushing thru life from one thing to the next that don't take the time to reflect...now you are forced to, and you're incredible, sweet and loved for it! (So sorry, I know it well!)RED is my favorite, I just learned that when the eyes pass over red it actually increases your heart rate. I have red all over my house, and adore it.And yellow too for sunshine :)

Frick. San Francisco and that pink skirt needed to meet up! Soon. I hope you are feeling well enough to go soon. How exciting for your baby girl to be making her way out into the world, and in SF of all cool places. What a time!

I had to cancel a trip to see my son last weekend - it's really disappointing! When he first left home seven years ago (egad, that long!) I could barely stand it a week without seeing him. And that was tough because he moved 1500 miles away. Now, I can make it about six weeks before I start to get that empty feeling in the pit of my stomach that says "I miss my baby!"

I hope you feel better, stronger, and can see your girl really soon.
Big hugs :)

So sorry to hear you're feeling worn down - bless your husband and his flexible travel plans!!!

I love red, too. Our dining room is red - it took about 16 coats of paint to make it happen. Like a lot of things in life, red walls are work, but worth the effort!

Rest and feel better!

Hope you're feeling better soon! Better to take a trip when you're feeling good and not so crummy you can't enjoy it.

There will be other trips but I'm sorry you had to cancel this one. I have had very limited Net access all week since moving so I am just now getting caught up on your blog. I hope you are surrounding yourself with any and all that soothes you. I love red too, btw, especially cranberry red. My winter flannel sheets are that color and I have dashes of it all over my place. I use to find it unsettling and now I find it empowering and healing and so very soothing and alive.
