I'm sure people who read some of my comments think I like to be a deliberate contrarian or cantankerous just for sport (I just think I have some parts left out). I think when, in literature, "eyes" are made much of it is not a literal thing. I think it is more like referring to the "heart" in certain ways (such as the seat of emotion, courage, character, etc.). I see little information in people's eyes, nothing about character or any other trait. I really don't even get "smiling" with the eyes. The structures of the face as a whole can, maybe, convey something when configured certain ways, but it can be false even when we perceive it as true (thus, sez me, explaining how some folks are able so easily to decieve us, con us, etc.). But, then again, all the hoopla about eyes has made for some nice reading.
I've been fascinated with taking pictures of windows and doors lately so I'm loving these pictures today!
I totally disagree with the first comment; I think that the eyes are a definite giveaway when someone is being deceptive. There is even evidence that averting the eyes one direction or the other (I can't remember now which way it goes) it can tell if you are fabricating a story.
I totally get "smiling" with the eyes and seeing sadness and contemplation and shooting daggars. I know that the rest of the facial expression goes along, but I think the eyes reveal so much.
Wish you could see my eyes smiling back at you :D Thanks for the visual treat.
I love these photo's!! I don't really know what my eyes are saying yet today... Hopefully they are saying 'hello friend' to every person I see whether or not i know them. I hope to have friendly eyes today.
For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by photos of windows and doors and these are fabulous!
I wonder sometimes about the answer to your question, but I don't think we ever really see ourselves quite the way others see us, so I'm not sure we can ever truly know what others see when they look into our eyes.
If you as bek she'd probably say mischiefousness and happiness(giggle) I think im good at hiding how I feel, Ben says otherwise.(he says open book) But I hope they see caring and with an honest heart compassion and empathy, with a touch of naughtiness.
i know that this quote applies to everyone, but it's so easy to see how i'm really doing when you look in my eyes. my parents and brother often remark on the "amy sparkle" i have when i'm really ok, and no matter what i say, my mom always knows how i'm really doing by looking in my eyes. i have NO poker face whatsoever.
Your timing is impeccable with this question, because this was a topic of conversation this weekend. I absolutely believe that the eyes tell NO lies...ever. Someone can be smiling;however, you take one look into their eyes, and you know whether it is genuine or not. I am an open book...you look at my eyes and you know exactly how I am feeling.
I truly believe that eyes ARE the window to the soul. And, people who cannot see into them are missing out on so much.
I hope when people see into my eyes they see light, love, compassion and a sense of joy. I know when I am feeling ' right' with the world I can feel my eyes sparkle from the inside and radiate out.

i try to tell people that no matter who they are they are precious and loved by the world...i hope that's what people get from my eyes.
I hope they see compassion, humanity, love and just a little twinkle of mischieviousness! much love and many hugs, JP
I hope they can see someone is home...someone who cares.
i think most people see both sincerity and mystery. i always get the "there's something exotic about you, but i can't quite place it."
it's fun to think that others see you as a mystery but, on the contrary, i'm quite an open book.

Great photos - reminded me of how much people can see in us even when we think we're holding it all together.

I feel sorry for Gerry - he doesn't know eyes like we do, eh Darbs?
As for what people see when they look into my eyes? Well all sorts of things that constantly surprise me!
