A conversation got me thinking today about the fact that the number two is a magical number. You meet someone new and you go down the mental list finding things you have in common. If you each find similar traits, that is two, parallel experiences, two, shared childhood upbringing...Two. Same kind of tragedies...two again.

The beautity of this is that loneliness can be dispelled by just adding one more person. I imagine what a gift it is to be given the opportunity to have much more that two, like seven, or 10! I've never seen a network of people where they throw themselves at each other and they hit it off right from the start. The blogging community is much more subtle. It takes some time and that is a good thing.

When you find someone that you connect with, you cut to the chase and stand inside the muck together. You give advice and get advice. The relationships are very give and take and if that is not the case, we move on. It's that simple, yet listen to the logic. I rarely hear of people getting there feelings hurt and we are making connections with people all over the world who also were abused, have eating disorders, or are suffering from grief. You take it where you want it to go. Start with regular commenting, next is email, snail mailing, some calling, and the next thing you know, your visiting in person.

This is almost sounding like an add for a commercial. But, there is so much beauty in the connections that I can't believe it happens so fast. I want to say one last thing. If you appreciate, or even love someone's blog space, how much more can you gain from taking the next step and emailing them, not just to tell them so, but to ask questions and be willing to open up yourself. I believe that we don't even understand the power we obtain with these keys under our fingers and our written words. And this may even be the hope of a better future, for all human beings...A new world...and it all started with the word BLOG (not what I would have chosen, but, oh well :)

I encourage you to email one of your favorite bloggers, you'll be glad you did and we can all be cheering from the sidelines of our lives.

what?!? email? This might be a little out of my comfort zone. You mean to tell me that this is what goes on? people email and call and send packages? I've been missing out. :)

I'll think about it. I'll try this...maybe not today, but soon.

such lovely words from a lovely woman who I just recently discovered and was drawn to from the start. There is something in this blog thing that continues to astound me each and every day! My husband has told me he's seen a big change in me since blogging....not that I was isolated and had no friends's just different and in a VERY positive way. I feel I have been enhanced because of it! Thank you for those words!

Am I crying because...
* your words, as always, are so true and beautiful.
* of the GORGEOUS necklace I just received from *you* in the post, half way across the world.
* of the connection we share
* when I put the necklace you made me on... it had a tiny heart clasp.

For these reasons and so much more, I love you dearly Dar.

YOU ARE AN ANGEL... and you can be sure that your love and gifts to me are reciprocated... a hundred times over in this life.. and the ones to come.

I was going to call you this morning... but time got away from me, but you can be sure I will soon.

And a package will be on its way soon too.

I CAN NOT WAIT to meet you in person, and Jay, and A and Deni.
What a blessing to know you.
To call you my friend. A true friend... is an such a priviledge Dar.

One day we will be telling our grandkids about how we met.
((snuggly hugs and kisses))

Your words are so true, Darlene. I am often caught flat-footed regarding relationships. I'm shy and unsure and still fighting the remnants of childhood experiences.

But you inspire me to be more trusting.

Hope you are back on an even keel after the stresses of the past few weeks.

(BTW - saw your beautiful creation on BB's blog. You have such talent and generosity of heart.)

"loneliness can be dispelled by just adding one more person"

I don't know how I coped before I blogged. True, true words in this. Making connections with people who help you realise you're normal is like finding salvation. Reading others' honesty, opening up (slowly and flowerlike) myself and (the icing on the cake) developing friendships from this has affected my 'real life' dramatically.

Praise the stars for standing in muck together!

Ooooohhh, this was fantastic. I loved reading it and looking at the wonderful photo's.

I agree with you completely. It is so strange to me that i started blogging ,then I started having troubles in my life... and then suddenly I had support and loving kind words from people I have never met but people I consider friends. I have been lucky enough to be emailing with a couple and even phoning with one... phoning.. is that even a word???

I *heart* bloggie pals. And I *heart* you as well!!!
