Thanksgiving 2006 ~ What happened to all the kids?

Angela & Kelly

Mark & Casey

Casey & Kelly
Angela & Sean

This year Thanksgiving felt very adult like. I was not feeling well, so I was on the couch, which aloud me to observe everyone and get some good candid pictures. Even though it was noisy (it always is when you get all of us under one roof) something was missing. It always feels strange when Carsten and Denise aren't there, but that wasn't it. All the kids are grown up now and their bodies are so big. The boys look like young men and the girls...the girls are beautiful! Everyone was over 5 feet tall and now all the members of the family engage in the same adult conversation. I love having my family around and my kids home, but I missed the chaos that accompanies the youngsters. It really sunk in deep that these cousins are all grown up and I did a lot of proud smiling.

Mark is my 24 year old son and his sister Angela knows you all by name (along with your profile pictures :) It is a rare thing when both of them are here at the same time . The food was wonderful, but I have to say that, though being stuck on the couch wasn't ideal, I really enjoyed watching everyone interact in their own quirky ways. Personalities are established, faces are unique and laughter truly is musical. I think I would have missed some very poignant moments had I been vertical instead of horizontal. I hope your holiday was everything you expected and more.

Too bad you weren't feeling good, but I'm sure all those gorgeous faces had to brighten your day!

It is scary when all of a sudden those little bodies are all big and grown up. But satisfying to know they've turned out so beautifully!

Hope you're feeling better :)

I can't believe how much Angela resembles you!

I'm sorry you weren't feeling better, but I'm glad you were able to interact and capture all the fun and sharing with your camera.

Sending you healing thoughts :-)

It's so true - sometimes you see the people you love differently when you have a chance (even if it's not one you chose) to sit back a little and watch them. Bless your relationships with all these newly adult family members - they look like a wonderful bunch!

I hope you're feeling better!

I am so sorry you were not feeling very well :( It is really weird to see everyone all grown up isn't it?? I kept thinking that as all my cousins were running around and my sister and I were talking about "grown up" things ... just crazy, but good:)

It's wonderful the way you can see the bright side of having to sit this one out on the sofa. Those photos you took are lovey... you have a great family.
If you ever want to see the chaos and madness of a household with kids that are still little, let me know and I'll set up my webcam for you to have a look!!!

I had a sense you haven't been feeling too well, my dear. Even though role of observer has its benefits, I'm sure you missed feeling better & being a part of the activity. Big, warm hugs to you Dar. The growing children, just remember, there is always a piece inside of the that is that little girl or little boy that wants your mothering and nurturing love. Beautiful pics, much love, JP

Someday soon I just know you will be off that couch and feeling 100%! You have too much will power! Your family is just beautiful. I know what you mean about the kids being grown up. Ours are the same way. We have little ones, but they are my great-nieces and nephews. I just love watching our family too, so I know what you mean. Feel better soon, I am watching snowflakes fall right now and am saying a little prayer for you. Much love! :)

Wow - so many gorgeous people in one place!

It's so interesting when the younger ones join the adult conversation. At 12, Taylor is becoming quite annoyed by the young children (including her sister!) so she spends much of her time around Mom and all of her Aunts. It almost makes me a bit sad because it seemed to happen without me noticing! Where has all the time gone?

I'm so sorry that you were feeling less than stellar, but it's so grand to be surrounded by all of that love. I love you, pretty girl! xoxo

my gods all yer family is gorgeous.
sorry to hear you're not feeling top notch.

match those good days with your bad days, now take your emotional state during all of them... they'll likely all add up to good days with jes' some speed bumps along the way...

funny how you mentioned it was noisy. was that jes' the normal din of getting them all together or the fun conversations, laughter and joy? remember, the couch may have had you in it's graps, but i certain that you were a focus of much of that joy.

Angel... what a beautiful family you have!
I bet they grew so quickly.
I sometimes wish:
a) I could shrink Mikaela and put her in my pocket, take her everywhere with me.
b) freeze her at any particular age I like, for as long as I like....
Most the time tho... I like watching all the changes, and Like you, I am very proud.

The time just goes so damn quickly!!

Big Squeezy hugs... so glad you were surrounded by so much love.

**you are one in a million Dar**
I love you.

These are great pics...where does the time go...

Once it's gone...

Well...sometimes I find it painful to even look back at photos of mine when they were young kids...

Much too fleeting.

good looking kids ...

Very fun to view these.
