Pictures in Pajamas

I woke up to the sound of birds, grabbed my camera and stood in my backyard in my jams. I chose a branch, focused and waited. I saw this blur and I started snapping pictures. It was all over in 2 seconds and I ran into the house and loaded them onto my computer. Tears filled my eyes because I adore Hummingbirds and I actually got their courtship on film. Notice how the males head feathers turn red when his girlfriend shows up...too cute! And what about his eyes? They look so....human! Needless to say, this made my day. I am a complete amateur when it comes to photography, haven't read the manual yet, afraid to press any buttons because my camera turns into a mighty robot and this was beginners luck, which I've never had. I mean...this is any old-fashioned love story...

Boy is lonely * Boy sees Girl * Boy flexes muscles * Boy goes after Girl

*Sigh*

Love is in the air...literally...Happy Friday Lovelies

(hey...is that hummingbird flashing me a BA?) how rude! ;-))))

what a GIFT to be sure!
how amazing is that!?

i've been quite lucky as well, i had one land on ma' finger once...

try it... a dab of sweet clear sugar water, and stand amongst the fray of crazy winged & magical beasties... make sure it's on the surface of your finger so they can rest their weary, caffeinated wings...

hugs to you...
B

That's so cool! It's really hard to capture those fast-moving little birdies and you did a great job!

that is amazing that his head can turn red so very quickly. Wow! Fantastc photos! I love birds as well. Laini's mom has a guest room with a bird theme and she has collected so many extraordinary things for it over the years. Now I find I have many things in my home too with them- birdfeeders that I light candles in, carved atop lanterns, in paintings,,,, of course the real things are what I love most. I have many birds on my property and will miss them when I move next month! Thank you again for this delightful post!

If you hadn't captured the color change with your camera I wouldn't have believed it. The flames of passion!

What a brilliant start to your day. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.

amateur? I think not. Your photos are amazing and to think you were able to capture this "moment" the way you did..and so quickly. What kind of camera are you using? I think you have the natural eye and ability, who needs the manual - look what you were able to do? WOW!
XOXO

Thanks so much for sharing these! I showed my daughter (12) and she was amazed by them as well! A lovely glimpse into the world of birdie love.

BTW - I don't think he was flashing you, just being a gentleman and protecting his sweetie from the paparazzi! :)

What a wonderful way to start your Friday. I am like you, I have not read the camera manual, and am afraid to "touch" any of the buttons. No matter for you, because your photographs are always stunning...always!

Love in the air is the best thing. We need more love everyday. Thank you for sharing it with us in such a pure and profound way today!

These are so marvelous! As a fellow photography neophyte, I am mightily impressed.

I found your blog by way of Star and BB (among others) and have been enjoying some of your past posts, all of which radiate warmth, caring, and insight.

BTW, also love the necklace you made for BB -stunning!

How Sweet!!

Amateur? I think you may have yet, another gift! What kind of pictures will you take when you figure out what your new camera can do?

Once in a while, your fury little friends will fly over to my house for a visit.

It is amazing what you can capture in a moment if you are still.

Isn't it the little things that CAN make your day?

I find that some of my best photos happen by accident. Doesn't say much for my talent, but what the heck.

Your photos, however, are pure talent and I just won't hear any arguing about that. Thanks for sharing! They were just the pick-me-up I needed.

I found your blog through Deb's and am very glad I did.

You write beautifully. And convey your feelings in a lovely way.

I love these photos of the hummingbird's courtship. The male bird looks very happy to see her. Didn't know that the male's feathers changed color!! And his eye does look human too.

You have captured some magical moments. And have a natural flair for photography and writing.

Creativity in my pyjamas always feels more meaningful.

I'm not dressed yet.

I'm having a ball.

I wonder if all talent is beginner's luck just pushed. I believe firmly in the importance of doing it, whatever it is, and believing in the doing. You'll never capture anything worthwhile if you don't take the chance of being bad but capture anyway. I write and that makes me a writer. It is the only thing that qualifies me as a writer. That I do it before I get dressed just makes it more fun ;-) Who cares if it's any good?

Those are beautiful photos!! My mother loves hummingbirds, so you kind of reminded me of her with this post:) I love all birds and animals, and maybe someday, I'll work a beaded hummingbird into one of my pieces:)
