Glamour ~ Self Portrait Tuesday

I can always read people by the look in their eyes. Their mouth can be smiling, but their eyes say what's really going on...and that was my frustration in trying to take a "glamour" picture for today. The day was rushed with doctors appointments and the funny thing about seeing a variety of doctors, is that they each have their own ideas about what you need to be doing. One doctor puts you on a medicine and the next wants you off of it. (No details necessary, I'm sure you can understand how frustrating it all is.....they all think they're God.)
So, I'm home after all that and trying to look glamorous for a self portrait (: $) I was tired, frustrated and lacking in creativity. Threw on the blue velvet shirt and said, "Try and look sexy Darlene, look at the camera like you love it, make the camera want you Darlene, make it want you now!" (if you didn't read that with an Italian accent, you need to read it again, because that's the voice that my brain was using at this moment) Absolutely hopeless, it didn't matter what I did with the rest of my body, my eyes said, "tired...we're tired and hungry and we want to take a nap." (if you didn't read that with a really whiney voice blah blah blah)

Here is my glamour....or the best I could do for glam today, now if the topic was "Sneer" I would of had it, hands down! :D Hope you all had better luck than I did.

I found this one left in my camera.
Not more glamorous, just not as scary.

Aw, you're not sneering in that picture, you just look nonplussed, as if someone is making you pose for it, and someone is: you! It's still beautiful though, and in a way it's good for a glam shot, because sometimes those glam babes from the 40s took the "sultry" a little too far into "surly". When I look for faces for Laini's Ladies in old magazines from the era, it's HARD to find smiling faces! I guess models are allowed to smile? Or maybe they can't because they're so hungry all the time! (Oh, and that color blue is gorgeous)

Okay, it's just no fair at all that you can look that good at the end of such a harrowing day :) It's pretty clear that in the midst of all the trials and frustration, you are blessed. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us!

Well,....if I looked that good after a harrowing day, I would be blessed...you look great for gosh sakes...definitely a little pouty glam but great...

I'm just getting the gist of all these different days you all do, glamour days, other days...how fun...I don't think I could look glamorous if someone was holding out $1,000 bucks for me to try..haha...just not there any more...In fact, all these grandkids wear me out..(not really, I love it)..

Enjoyed reading you today..

I look at that picture and I see angry, and I don't blame the person in the picture for being angry.

And I don't believe in glam anyway, as noted in my post on my blog a day or so, or more, ago.

I think you look beautiful! But I know exactly what you mean about the smile not reaching the eyes when you aren't feeling it.

When I see that first photo I can almost hear you thinking "sheeeesh, come ON, I just want to get this over with." :-D

I LOVE your new profile pic!!

The grainy hazy film like quality of the photo gives it a mysterios feel, your ruby lips hold the focus, and the tilt of your shoulder...very glamourous you!
