Why a Fire Hydrant?
My husband is shouting from the kitchen table, as he reads the weekend newspaper, about Amish women, major gang issues in Las Vegas, the soldier death count and various other atrocities around the world. He's loudly announcing these tidbits of information (do all men do this?) for my benefit, in which I'm supposed to respond, "OMG" and other shocked reactions. I don't read the newspaper anymore and I rarely watch the news either. I know that's probably horrible of me, but my life is hard enough to live without having the additional debilitated information of this world that one day my (God willing) grandchildren will have to live in. Usually I get quiet mornings with you, which subject we covered this week, and I dearly love my husband, but now I'm supposed to have a great weekend like I wished all of you. And I will, but it's a hard way to start my day hearing all of that.
I realized that I shelter myself. I truly want MY world to be somewhat lala-ish and I don't know how healthy that is. Does anyone else do this?~~~~Okay, so why the fire hydrant? On my perfect weekend, what I'd really like to do is to hose up and turn on some really big hydrant and give this world one heck of a cleaning! I envision all the bad yuck blown away into the atmosphere and what is left is....well...a dripping wet world that needs a humongous towel. With my luck......we'd probably all catch a cold! Hummmm I need to go to Starbucks :)

Can YOU BELIEVE I've never ever had a StarBucks!!!! They finally got one here, just in time for the raising of the $$$$!! for one! LOL Any suggestions???!!! Let me know what's Good and YUMMY!!! Thought of YOU Darlene as I was at the Xray desk checking in for my mamogram(routine I HOPE!!!)just an hour ago at 3pm I heard a woman say she has Lupus and doesn't take her medication because it made her feel worse and then I didn't get to overhear anything else because I had to go to the Pink Ribbon door! to get my gram! Prayers for YOU Darlene and all sick people!Hope you aren't having a flare up today!! Yes, I turn on the news every day, I want to be prepared I guess, I guess that's how God took care of all this mess back in the day, if I seeeeeeeeee anyone making a big Ark, I'm going to become big friends with this guy altho that's why God made the rainbow for a promise and reminder he wouldn't do the Noah and the flood bit again! I live right across the street from a fire hydrant and now I will have another reminder of YOU Darlene! LOL Hugs and smooches!

I did regularly keep myself up on what was going on in the world...until my son went into the military service. You would think that I would especially do it now. But I just can not stand where my mind goes.
The fire hydrant sounds good to me too!!!

I'm the same as you dars...
It is a spiritual decision I make for me.
When I watch the news and feel the pain of all the disasters and conflict that is occurring, what am I contributing to? I am simply sending more energy and anxiety to the world consciousness.
If I instead choose to love myself, ingest only pure or good energy into me, then I can hold the world in healing energy.
Read Doreen Virtue books and she will tell you the same thing: we need to be conscious of what we are feeding our soul with - including what we eat through our eyes.
(Speaking of which... I haven't had Starbucks before either... I don't drink coffee or caffeine... and am a vegequarian :) hee hee hee... how's THAT for being sheltered? i like to think of it as being in retreat personally)
When people remark that I have too optimistic a vision with the world, I tell them I am simply being a radical visionary in a world of cynicism.
love you...
and thank you for your email...
it was SPECTACULAR... will reply when i can... but first I am off to spring clean my studio... WOOT WOOT!

hey - i'm the one who reads the news to my indifferent husband! perhaps i could do they same for you one day? :-)
love x x x x x
A first hello to you! I, like you, try to shelter myself from the awfulness that goes on in the world. Usually, if I feel the need to know what is going on, I will pick and choose news stories and commentaries via the internet. We work so hard to create a peaceful space around us, that sometimes the need to disconnect is necessary.
I am with you on the Starbucks! :-) I have a terrible codependancy with caffine.
And P.S....I do hope that your Lupus flare has subsided. I was diagnosed with Lupus about six years ago, and while I have been blessed beyond belief in terms of being able to control it, I understand the flare-ups and how debilitating they can be.
Your writing is beautiful!
