Poetry Thursday

"The Routine"
despite the air that surrounds
wanting to breathe
just afraid to move
filling the lungs
expanding the rubber band
that holds everything in place.
forcing my mind
to travel to destinations
that medicate and ease
eyes closed, the pictures become clear.
water waving, soothing sounds
the clouds move in
bringing the storm
that breaks the calm
and I am marooned.
soft breezes, bending colors
laying and looking
upward to the sky
the ground beneath me rumbles
opens up
and I am swallowed whole.
to see beyond the pain
receive the calm
breathe the scent
and fail
patience and try again.

You know I know the journey with pain you are on intimately also. Beautiful expression of the journey we are both on.

Beautiful poem mommy. It hurts to read this...I have lain by your side so many times during this routine. However, you always come out strong, with an unbelievable optimism that tomorrow will be a better day. I love you.

Hi Darlene..

-sister sledge -

Sister sledge... thats you and me,

Climbing on that old Oak tree.

Breathy giggles, and scraped up hands, bark in our hair and pretty hair bands.
You said... ''Let's keep climbing as far as we can.'' I said...

''Im scared Darlene. Don't let go of my hand.''

''I gotcha yer hand and im holding it tight.'' but if you tell mom we did won't sleep with me tonight.''

''I promise!...I promise!...Cross my heart....but then can we play....

Booger Art?!''
