Sharp Burning

There is no use
In fighting the flame
Avoiding the heat
The cut of the blade

No profit in leaving
Not feeling the pain
Or turning your back
There's nothing to gain

You're given a moment
A chance to decide
To take on the challenge
And face every plight

Your palms face to face
A bend in your knees
A humble request
Of all that you need

The joining of others
All family and friends
Each carry the burden
Right down to the end

And after the burning
Each flame touched to skin
All cuts from the blade
Cause bleeding within

In this place of learning
When pain is your school
You question your faith
And all of man's rules

So all that's left over
What lies in your heart
Is what you believe in
From ending to start

In all there is spirit
Believe it or nay
This fact does not matter
When grief is in play

With hardship there's learning
In each, a degree
We carry forever
and set ourselves free

And what are we free from
Not hardship or woe
Not sorrow or fear
Testing all that we know?

The most precious lesson
Of all that is taught
Is knowing contentment
When all appears lost

Contentment and trusting
In what we believe
Our minds may be blind
But our hearts He does see

Dearest Darlene,

Beautiful, darling one! You really should be in print, not just in blogger land. We are blessed by your sharing!

Thank you.

Love and prayers that continue from a very hot, bush fire ridden Australia.

Darlene,

Since you have been through this I know it would be close to your heart. My childhood friends, J.T. and Melanie, were in a horrible car accident on Friday and Melanie is extremely hurt. They have her in an induced coma for her body to heal up some before taking her into a 6-8 surgery to repair her pelvis and other fractures. She has already had four surgeries for internal bleeding and other problems. I would love if you would remember them in your prayers. I have more info on my blog and would be grateful if anyone that reads this would please stop to say a little prayer for them.

Thank you!

Beautifully expressed Darlene. When I think of all you have been through in the past nearly two months, it boggles the mind. Your writing is a healing experience as a reader and I hope it is for you too as the one writing these lovely, moving words. xoxo

So blessed to get a comment from you tonight. :) I love the depth of your words. It reminds me of something my pastor used to say that I've held on to during the tough times. "God doesn't waste pain on anyone." There is always a greater purpose - it's hard, it sucks and it makes us want to give up on some days, but through it all we are learning, being shaped, molded into a new being - almost always closer to who we are meant to be. I'm so hopeful that the pain you have suffered will enrich your family and help us all realize the true gifts we have been given. Thanks for your inspiring words and life.
